Hello, my name is Ashley Leighton and I am a Registered Massage Therapist. I also have my diploma in Sports Event Management.
My passion for massage therapy stems from my background in sports. I wanted to help the people around me deal with their injuries and ailments, especially those on the sports teams I was associated with. Assisting teammates get back their game and back to a healthy and pain free lifestyle is extremely rewarding. This is what enticed me to become a massage therapist.
I took my schooling in Vernon, BC at Okanagan Valley of Massage Therapy as well as in Toronto, Ontario at Sutherland Chan Massage School.
I use many treatment techniques to help resolve the presenting concern of my patient. A few techniques I tend to use but am not limited to are; Swedish massage, myofascial release, facilitated stretching and strengthening, passive range of motion, muscle energy techniques, positional release therapy, athletic taping, heat, ice massage and so much more.
When I am not working as a Registered Massage Therapist I like to be involved in the community in a variety of activities. I enjoy playing hockey, skiing, soccer, badminton, volleyball, rollerblading, biking and hiking. I love to travel and have been fortunate to have seen many different countries such as India, Nepal, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, France, England, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Budapest, and Australia. I also enjoy a challenge and to experience new things. I have a passion to continue to learn and grow as an individual.
I am happy to accept new clients and existing clients to my practice at Optimal Health Clinic.
